Professor Kushner is the former Vice President and General Manager of the Orbital Sciences Corporation Transportation Management Systems Division. He is one of the founders of NextBus Information Systems (www.nextbus.com) and has served as Executive Vice President of the Logic Tree Corporation. In addition, he served as the Director of the Westinghouse Electric Municipal Systems Division and the Director of Capital Resources for the Westinghouse Defense Group.
He is recognized as one of the early leaders in the area of Advanced Public Transportation Systems (APTS), where he led efforts to develop the Vehicle Area Network (VAN) Communications Standard and associated GPS vehicle tracking technologies and communications systems. He also serves - or has served - on a number of committees for the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITSA), the National Science Foundation - Transportation Research Board, and the American Public Transit Exams Institute (www.aptrex.com).
Professor Kushner has over 35 years of industry experience in the areas of project management, systems integration for telecommunications projects, information systems projects and customer service systems. During his career at the Westinghouse Defense Group, Professor Kushner managed a number major capital projects and project elements of several DOD Programs including the Harpoon Program and the F-16 Offset Program.
He is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland University College and is an Adjunct Professor at the Catholic University of America in the Graduate Engineering Management Program. He has a B.S. in Business from the University of Pittsburgh, an MBA from the University of Dayton, and is PMP Certified by the Project Management Institute.
