Deputy Chief Operating Officer
Sacramento Regional Transit
Alva Carrasco began working for the Sacramento Regional Transit District as Deputy Chief Operating Officer (COO) in February where she assists with the oversight of daily bus and light rail operations while also working on a variety of critical projects facing the District.
After being recruited away from Montebello Bus Lines (MBL) in 2013 by VIA Metropolitan Transportation in San Antonio, TX to serve as the Vice-President of Transportation, Alva is happy to be back in California getting reacquainted with colleagues and friends.
In that position at VIA, Carrasco was responsible for operations of VIA's fixed bus route, paratransit service and the region's accessible eligibility program. During her four year tenure she oversaw over 1,200 employees who provided over 43 million trips annually.
While in San Antonio Carrasco attended University of Texas San Antonio to study Urban and Regional Planning. Nominated as one of "San Antonio's Who's Who; Women of Distinction" in 2014, she also served as Vice-President of the COMTO San Antonio Chapter where she put her Jim Ditch Golf Tournament skills to work raising funds at their annual tournament entitled: "Golf Fore Education".
Carrasco currently serves as an Ambassador to the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) and as Board Vice President of Latinos in Transit.
